Kashmir – The land of beautiful colors between the bright and dark sides.

The videos were shot during the Kashmir trip in the winters of 2015 but I never shared videos of this beautiful place in the past so decided to edit and compose them into a short videos film and share them now in 2023.

The videos were captured using the Nikon D5100 camera which was launched more than a decade ago when the digital SLR cameras just got additional capability of capturing videos. Although the camera was primarily bought for photography, but since its got videos capabilities but I occasionally shoot videos as well on it. D5100 does not have in-body-stabilization, there is no log format video, and the resolution is limited to 1080p in the sRGB color profile leaving not much room for editing. Still performed some color grading using the film emulation LUT in DaVinci Resolve and customized the feel according to how I wanted to represent it.

The weakest point of the D5100 is that it looses out full manual control while shooting the videos and adjusts the ISO automatically resulting into noisy low light shots. I did not try to apply any noise reduction in the low light shots here but some of the shaky videos clips were stabilized in the post which may feel softer compared to others.

Nonetheless, presenting you the video film of the beautiful colors I captured while I was at this beautiful place – Kashmir.
